Public Works
Ronald Romak, Director

The Director of Public Work is appointed by the Borough Council. His or her responsibilities include maintaining the Borough's infrastructure and public facilities.  Any problems observed with streets, sanitary sewers and public buildings should be brought to the attention of this office.  Typically, these problems could be; pot holes, missing street or traffic lights, blocked catch basins, blocked sight distance at intersections, etc.

Leaf Collection

Leaves are collected curbside during the month of November. If biodegradable bags are used, bags must contain only leaves. Bags with branches, yard waste, etc. will be rejected. The bags should be placed behind the curb – not in the street. A brochure outlining the Leaf Collection Program is mailed to all residents in September.

Parking During Snowstorms

OUR PRE-EXISTING ORDINANCE PROHIBITING PARKING OR STANDING ON ANY ROAD WHEN SNOW REACHES 3” OR MORE WAS RECENTLY UPDATED WITH

INSTALLATION OF SIGNAGE AT ALL STREETS LEADING INTO TOWN.

A SNOW EMERGENCY CONTINUES TO EXIST FOR A PERIOD OF 24 HOURS AFTER SNOWFALL STOPS.  IT EXTENDS BEYOND 24 HOURS AS NEEDED UNTIL ALL STREETS HAVE BEEN PLOWED AND PLOWING/SALTING OPERATIONS CEASE.

THIS LAW APPLIES 24/7 AND WILL HELP TO ASSURE REMOVAL AS QUICKLY,  COST EFFECTIVELY , AND SAFELY AS POSSIBLE.  WE ASK FOR YOUR COOPERATION.  VEHICLES IN VIOLATION MAY BE TICKETED AND TOWED AS NEEDED.

PLEASE REMEMBER THAT PLOWING OR SHOVELING SNOW FROM DRIVEWAYS INTO PUBLIC ROADWAYS IS PROHIBITED.

NOW IS THE TIME TO ASSEMBLE SALT AND SHOVELS, HAVE YOUR SNOW BLOWER SERVICED OR MAKE PRIVATE ARRANGEMENTS TO ASSURE YOUR DRIVEWAY IS ACCESSIBLE DURING SNOWFALL.
